Selective focusing of laser pulses by diffraction-induced pulse splitting in photonic crystals

Linear focusing and defocusing of femtosecond light pulses in one-dimensional photonic crystals was numerically simulated and experimentally observed. The possibility to produce pairs of pulses and to focus or defocus each pulse selectively has shown.
